TROPHY SHOW WEEKEND 2009

We have been successful in finding, negotiating and booking a new hotel venue for the Trophy Weekend Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd February, it will be held at The Britannia Royal Court Hotel, Tamworth Road, Keresley, Coventry CV7 8JG, telephone 0871 222 0096.

Please mention “The Bull Terrier Club” when booking for the Special Room Rates as follows:
Friday 20th Dinner Bed and Breakfast £85 per room
Saturday 2lst Bed and Breakfast only £75 per room
Sunday night 22nd Feb dinner bed and breakfast £85 per room.

Please note it is the same price for a double or single room
Dogs are Free of Charge, SUBJECT TO THEM BEING KEPT IN CRATES AT ALL TIMES

There is a website www.britanniahotels.com for more information on The Britannia  Royal Court Hotel, but please note you will NOT be able to book these special rates via the website and the only means at present is to book via the above telephone number.
The Open Show will be held on the Saturday with the Trophy Show on the Sunday.
We have a 3 year contract with this Hotel, but it is obviously subject to how “guests” behave and how responsible they are with their dogs.  Please report anyone not “cleaning up” after their dogs etc to the Committee and please follow the rules of the Hotel. As you will be well aware we have lost a number of Hotel venues over the years through irresponsible behaviour, albeit by a very small minority and we know in the main that our members are very responsible, so please help us keep this new venue for future years.

Details of the Saturday night Banquet and Disco will be available later in the year.

THANK YOU - We would like to thank the EAST ANGLIAN BULL TERRIER CLUB for their kind assistance in trying to alter their dates to help us retain our venue for our Trophy Show Weekend in 2009.

As you may be aware there were a few incidents at the Hotel this year relating to irresponsible dog ownership.

In spite of efforts to negotiate terms with the Hotel for 2009, they made it quite apparent that we were not welcome by increasing costs out of all proportion eg the hire of the Hall by 30%, charging a fee of £35 to keep your dog in your room etc and making conditions that would be impossible to achieve. So we have lost yet another venue.

At the present time we are hoping to sign contracts with a new Hotel venue.

Once again a big thank you to the East Anglian Bull Terrier Club for their help and co-operation.

INTER COUNTRY COMPETITION - We are delighted to report that The Bull Terrier Club, as invited by the Dutch Bull Terrier Club, have selected a team to compete in the Inter Country Competition on the weekend of 15/16 November, in Holland.  The team comprises of “Under Two Dogs” Quinn’s Padhen Abraham of Lincoln and Roberts &  Grieves’ Ch.Teirwgwyn Son Of A Gun at Meilow. “Under Two Bitches” Roberts’ Teirwgwyn Treacle Tart and Seward’s Padhen Precious Pearl. “Over Two Dogs” Stubbs & Potter’s Tyebar Groundpower and Ley’s Virtuous Brute Force By Fortifer. “Over Two Bitches” Crossan, McGill & Wannop’s Ch. Crossgarley Cacharrel and Newberry & Gates’ Ukusa Cosmopolitan. We are sure all of the above will be enormously proud to be representing the first UK team and although this will only be the third year for the Competition it has proved to be a highly popular weekend event with BT enthusiasts from all over the world.  The Championship Show is on the Saturday with judges Bill Poole (dogs) and Becky Poole (bitches) (Rocktops) from the USA. The Competition itself on the Sunday with judges Stephen Craven (Australia), David Harrison (South Africa) and Norma Smith (Canada).  We understand all of the above BTs have had their relative vaccinations and will have their Pet Passports etc in order to complete their trip. We wish them well and no doubt they will have a band of UK supporters to “Cheer” them along at the show. Entry forms and details of the weekend will shortly be available on the Dutch BTC website www.bullterrierclub.nl
